Week 4

To get more information on horses mentioned go to Our Horses

To get more information on Mark & Tanya go to  About Us or anyone else go to The Team

With all the babies out on Wednesday there was no easy day  (as if any day is easy with horses!) on Monday this week.
Wendy (only here from the USA for 2 weeks) had a crash course getting used to Nordic as she was riding him at Milton Keynes, & Bradwell this week then Moreton Morrell and Keysoe next week.

With still no rain in the UK we were expecting the ground at Milton Keynes HT to be bad, they had actually done an excellent job with the aerating, the ground was super.

The Show Jumping caused a fair amount of problems throughout the day, up to height with a bright flimsy set of jumps clear rounds were few and far in-between.

Mark had 3 to ride, Felix, Daz and Kline. Lauren had 4 Dexi, Denzil, and Fox, and Anything Goes, (Conker - not the same Conker she has been riding so far this season. Booli was riding Oscar, and Wendy had Nordic.
Georgie another working student of ours also had her horse Bilbo competing at his and her first PN. she keeps him at home so a much easier time for Georgie getting one horse ready.

With 2 lorries leaving the yard with 9 horses it was a busy morning for the girls, (& Boys!) getting everything organised, although they are pretty used to it by now!

Daz

Nordic

Oscar

Kline

All the horses did pretty good Dressage tests.

The show jumping was caused a few more problems, Wendy & Nordic did very well jumping round there first course together and had 2 down. Booli was jumping a super round then had both parts of the double down. Lauren had one down on Fox, 3 down on Dexi 2 down on Conker and after a bad start, first fence down then a circle to get organised did a lovely round on Denzil for 8 faults.
Mark did a super clear on Daz then 4 down on Felix and 1 down on Kline.

The XC was more successful.
Lauren withdrew Denzil, then had 2 stops at the 4th a down hill complex after a long downhill run that always causes plenty of problems. Went on to do 2 very good clears with Fox & Conker.
Wendy, Booli and Georgie both went clear and were thrilled with there rounds.
Finishing the day well, Mark was clear on his three.

Kline was the only one to come home with a rosette finishing 4th

Back out again on Thursday to Weston Lawns SJ
Once again we filled the Lorry - (what is the point of taking it out half full!) Mark had a good day picking up a few places with Nitetime, Willow, Bunny Ricki & Johnny.
Chad took Foaly and jumped 2 much better rounds. Nathan took his Mare Pogo for the 'baby' classes and jumped very well.

Johnny at Weston Lawns

One day at home then back out at Bradwell Horse Trails.
This was our first visit to Bradwell set in the Cheshire country side it was a lovely event, very picturesque. Cheshire has also had the good fortune of rain earlier in the week, so the going was very good.

Unfortunately our video camera decided to give up whilst at Bradwell, so no pictures from the event.

Once again it was a busy day with 8 horses from the yard and 1 from Jane for Lauren to ride competing.

The horses all did fairly good tests, with Dexi a scoring a brilliant 24 and Fox 27 making Lauren the dr. Queen for the day.

Once again we were happy with most of the horses in the SJ Daz jumped another clear, Booli and Wendy both had 2 down AGAIN! Felix had one down and Kline three down
Laurens horses mostly jumped well, Denzil had two down but jumped much better, Fox had one down, Conker was clear, only Dexi was disappointing with 4 down, - so much for the good dr.!!

The XC was technical, and quite spooky so caused a few problems.
Wendy with Nordic, Booli with Oscar, Lauren with Conker, & Fox and Mark on Daz all jumped clear whilst the other's made 'baby' mistakes with Glance off's at corners or hesitations at spooky fences.

Fox and Conker both finished in the rosettes with Fox in 6th and Conker in 3rd

Sunday saw us back at Bradwell.

For a change it was an easy day with Mark competing 2 and no one else from the yard competing. - Bliss! (not that we don't like everyone but it certainly is a nice not to be flat out ALL the time)

With the video still out of action the photo's below are courtesy of Wendy who with lots of practice was getting pretty good with her camera.

Bunny

Bunny did another Very good double clear to finish 5th
Duke had to finish 7th

Despite the easy day Sunday it was a tiring week and we were in bed nice and early - poor Wendy visiting from the USA and all we have done is drag her to Horse Trials, well i guess it is one way to see the country!
