With 20 from the yard competing over the three days everything had to be super organised. Friday we had to leave at 5am with 7 horses. Mark had 3 intermediates, the best of which was Bridget who won the OI. This is the third time in a row she has won this class at Gt Witch. (I wonder if this is a record). Tanya had the two 6 yr olds, Jet and Butterfly in the CCI* and they both went really well, Jet just had 1 SJ down then went clear XC and Butterfly was double clear. This gives them a qualification for the 6 yr old championships at Le Lion d'Angers.
Amy jumped clear XC on Surprise round their first novice and Mary Frances was double clear on Tag round the CCI*.
Saturday, we had to take two lorries to carry the 11 horses competing, (5 Jockeys) it was a busy morning with all 11 horses finished by 2pm! It was a good day overall, Mark won the OI on Lucky, he should have been second on Rudy but took the wrong entrance into the water and was eliminated for error of course! He also picked up 4th place on the lovely young horse Erano in the BE100. Tanya had a fall off Ella at the coffin on the XC, she tripped on landing and Tanya ended up in the ditch. Luckily the other three rides were more successful, all three did super steady double clears, including the amazing pony Nikita (this was her first Novice). Helen had an excellent day with her two horses, double clear on both. This was the BE100 for her lovely young horse, Calli and her first double clear on Lady at Novice.
Sunday, Amy took Kirsty, Rebecca and Amelia to compete. They all had a great day, Amelia did a double clear in her first BE90 with Emi, Rebecca and Kirsty, who are planning to move up to novice at Eland, also went double clear so that will leave them with plenty of confidence.
We nearly managed to complete the first 3 events without bad weather, (last year we had snow at Oasby, Lincoln, and Gt Witchingham), this year we just had a five minute hail storm at Gt Wichingham just to keep us on our toes!
