Diary May Week 4

We were looking forward to leaving Punchestown to get out of the rain, unfortunately we arrived home to more rain..... I can't say we were looking forward to  Tweseldown 3 day this week.

Just to help our moods, the weather decided to continue to act like winter, and despite everyone's presumptions that the x-country wouldn't run, the weekend went ahead in it's entirety with 119 starters!

Even with the weather trying to undo everything, the event was extremely well presented and the organizers and volunteers were very helpful, especially when Delphi escaped from her stable and went down to the local pub, at 2 in the morning! She obviously didn't think much of the river running through her stable!

Tig did a lovely dressage test, and was very happy with Bud.

Delphi also behaved very well, and put in a great test.

The x-country ran with surprisingly good ground, considering the conditions. Again, the course looked lovely, and rode fantastically for both Tig and Lauren. They were both clear inside the time which elevated them slightly from their dressage positions for the show jumping.

On Sunday the show jumping was causing lots of problems, with rails falling and nearly everyone getting time penalties.

Bud jumped a very nice round, unfortunately knocking 2 rails, but was inside the time.

Lauren was not on form on Sunday (and it wasn't even because of a hangover from the night before!) and managed to fall off in the collecting ring. She missed at the last fence x-country the day before and scared Delphi a bit, so was not bold in her jumping. Lauren didn't ride accordingly and had a very uncharacteristic stop at the 3rd fence. After this, she jumped a lovely clear round, which just added salt to the wound!

nearly off !!!

second attempt was much better!

The good news at the end of the week was that both Lauren and Tig were listed for the Young Rider Team this year, which is fantastic, but just as welcome as this news was the fact we were all allowed back home to our beds, finally!
