Well the holiday is well and truly over...Not that we had been on holiday, just not been out competing at one day Horse Trials during August.
September is going to be quite manic.
With 9 days out eventing over the next month plus Mark plans to take his jumpers
out. (MAD!)
It is always fun riding the horses after they have had a break, most of the time they actually benefit from the rest. The girls had started them back into work with some lunging over the last week so they were ready to crack on with.
The only down side was Tanya woke up with a stinking cold on Monday morning, not that she got any sympathy!
With all the 'babies' out at the weekend they needed a bit of practice so Tuesday we took some to Vale View and indoor close by for a bit of schooling around coloured fences, and Wednesday we took them XC schooling in preparation for the weekend.
This was the first time for many years we
either did not have a horse at Burghley, or were not spending the weekend there
watching.
Gillian, (Marks Mother) came over to go.
Burghley has to be one of the best places anywhere to go shopping, Tanya went
Thursday after riding, but was not in top form due to the cold so Mark was happy
the credit card came home unscathed!
Mark spent Thursday at Weston Lawns jumping, he took a box full with his two jumpers Molly (Special Lady) and Ricki (Out For Justice) along with some of the Eventers. they all jumped well, and he came home with several rosettes.
When we entered Cleobury Mortimer HT They
were planning to run 3 days of competition, allowing to compete Friday and
Sunday and go to Burghley Saturday to watch the XC.
Unfortunately they did not have the entries they expected and decided to run
Saturday & Sunday, ruining our plans!
Despite this the weekend went very well.
Saturday, Tanya had 4 Pre novices.

Twinkle (Portduff Twinkling) did OK dressage, clear XC then had a glance off at fence 4 - she went well round the rest of the XC but was just a little rusty at the start. |

Bunny (Cruise Control) did a good dressage clear SJ and then had a glance off at an arrow head but we were please, this was only her second HT
Tanya's other two rides Frilly (Sentimento) who was bred by Marks Parents and Balloo (Hulla Balloo) who was found in Ireland by Marks Dad both finished on their dressage score and won there sections.

Mark had one ride Saturday, Bear (Dark Justice) who finished
on his dressage to
place 2nd behind, Frilly!
Lauren had Dexi (Deck Duty) her new horse out for his first event. he did a good
dressage, was a bit wobbly SJ and had 2 down then went well XC but had a glance
off at the same arrow head Bunny had trouble with. - we were pleased with his
attitude and performance the mistakes were only 'baby' mistakes and he will only
improve.
Back at Cleobury on Sunday, This time
Mark had 5 to ride one novice and four intermediates!
Duke went very well in the novice to finish on his dressage score in 3rd place.
in The Intermediate Mark had Johnny (Step In time) and Brandy (Leganny Optimist)
along with Blondie (TelRoyal) a lovely young horse Mark is just
riding Blondie for a few events as he has become a little strong for his rider.
They all went well. Johnny had run down an angled hedge for 20 penalties Mark was pleased with his round despite this, the other two had good clear XC going very steady they still finished 10th & 12th.
