This week felt much
more relaxed; the 'babies' went out in the field for a holiday so with no mid
week event and only one day at the weekend at Witton Castle we thought it would
be plenty of time to get things done.
As normal easy weeks never happen, there is always plenty to do.
We took the opportunity to get some pictures of the new Irish horses Monday we jumped them at home then took them XC schooling on Tuesday.

We are very happy with them all, They are all very nice horses, they all went well XC and will make nice horses for people.
With an outdoor arena lunging circle, and indoor school to get done over the winter we have been busy collecting samples, and quotes. It really is a minefield with prices and products varying hugely. The office looks rather funny with bags & buckets of sand and rubber covering the floor.
Thursday, Mark headed off jumping again for
the last show at Weston Lawns for the season. Once again he came home with
rosettes placing 1st & 2nd in the novice, and second in the discovery.
We have been so tied up with the moving, to the farm and the eventing that the
jumpers have been somewhat neglected but it is time they jumped some
bigger classes now!
He took some of the Eventers too, they jumped but no rosettes.
Friday we had torrential rain, a drain blocked and the stables and half built staff living accommodation flooded, luckily the floors are not down yet and we could sweep the water out.
Saturday we headed north to Witton Castle to
our last one day of the season - Hurrah!!
It is not that we don't enjoy eventing. We look forward to the start of the
season every year, but we also look forward to the end of the season!
The weather at Witton was great, sunny and warm, we have never been to Witton when the weather was anything but horrendous, so it certainly made a very welcome change.

Mark had 3 horses in the novice, Duke,
Willow, and Nitetime.
Duke did a very good dressage, clear SJ and then was green on the XC and did not
want to jump a ditch in the coffin, it is a tricky coffin and does catch plenty
out. Duke is now going to do some hunting over the winter, hopefully it will
improve his XC.
Nitetime & Willow went well to finish 6th & 13th
Sunday we had planned a lay in and an easy
day, you guessed it, it did not happen, once again torrential rain over night
blocked the drain again and the barn flooded, this time worse than Friday. so
lots of sweeping was followed by replacing the guttering and some much needed
repairs.
Oh well, the best laid plans!
